On October 3-5 representatives from Inderøy municipality, Telemarksforskning and KS participated at a seminar in the project “Grow through Activating Local Potential” (GALOP), under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism EEA Grants for Bulgaria.

The GALOP project is organized by the National Association of Municipalities of Bulgaria (NAMBR), with KS as a partner organization. The main objective of the project is to support the socio-economic development of Bulgarian municipalities by activating their local resources and potential. Through the project, 10 Bulgarian municipalities have received funds, assistance, networks, and inspiration from Norwegian municipalities to start development projects. The goal is more jobs and business development locally.

The seminar was situated in the city of Veliko Tarnovo.

NAMBR organized some incredibly rich and exciting days in the beautiful city of Veliko Tarnovo, with good discussions between representatives of the Bulgarian municipalities, NAMBR and the Norwegian guest.

The highlight of the visit a tour to the one of the municipalities in the project, Elena. There we had the opportunity to see the results of the project firsthand. New jobs in an incubator center for three young people who will help the micro-enterprises in the area with distribution and marketing of what they produce. And they have had plenty to do from day one. As a excellent example of adaptive reuse of buildings, a former fire station now serves as an incubator office.
