The EEA agreement also offers possibilities to take part in a broad range of programmes with the aim to support development, cohesion and cooperation in the EEA area.
The full participation of Norway in EU's internal market, as well as the European cooperation in general, contributes to the daily life and work at Norwegian municipalities and regions. That's why KS has established an office in EU's political capital, Brussels.
The main task of our office in Brussels is to disseminate information of importance to Norwegian municipalities and regions.
KS' Brussels' office arranges seminars, receives study groups from among its members and gives lectures on relevant matters upon request.
The office also provides the opportunity of traineeships to employees from Norwegian municipalities and regions, as well as for KS employees.
In our monthly newsletter "EU på norsk" ("The EU in Norwegian"), KS Brussels informs about current developments in the EU/EEA, which are relevant to the Norwegian municipal sector.
KS' Brussels' office represents the interests of Norwegian municipalities and regions to European organisations:
CEMR (Council of European Municipalities and Regions, the organisation of local and regional government in Europe)
CEEP (European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest, the official social partner for public employers in Europe)
EFTA consultative committee (the advisory committee for Trade Unions and Employers' organisations from the four EFTA member states Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).
Åse Erdal is the head of the Brussels' office.
